Kalamazoo River Heritage Water Trails

Heritage water trails are routes on navigable waterways such as rivers, lakes, and canals. They are designed and implemented to foster an interactive historical and educational outdoor experience.

Historical markers posted on bridge crossings highlight historic events or themes related to the waterway. A companion guide provides a detailed presentation of the historic features found along the waterways. The guide includes maps, water craft put-in and take-out access points, rest stop locations, and paddling conditions along the river.
As always, use extreme caution navigating flowing waters. Consider weather conditions, wear life vests at all times, and dispose of trash in provided receptacles. Keep the natural waters safe and clean for everyone to enjoy.
